The mail carrier brought our caterpillars today!
We are watching as they eat, grow and shed their exoskeletons. When they are ready, they will climb to the top of their containers, hang upside down, and become chrysalides!
We can hardly wait to watch them hatch into butterflies (Vanessa cardui)! In a little over three weeks, we will get to create habitat and feed them in our pavilion before releasing them into our flower garden!
(Stay tuned! We will post updates on our scientific observations!)

  1. Uh-oh. This brings back painful memories of our ant farm. Involved broken plastic, the vacuum cleaner and lots of tears (from the boys, not me!). Wishing you lots of luck, Mom!!!
