Homemade Play Dough Recipe

This is the best homemade play dough recipe that I have found. It is the same recipe Dylan and I used to make when he was a little guy. Ben and I made it together for the first time this morning. It was so much fun!!!

Play Dough

2 cups flour

1 cup salt

2 tablespoons alum

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 cups boiling water

food color (optional ... 2-3 drops added to the oil)

Mix the first four ingredients. Make a hole in the center and add the boiling water. Mix thoroughly. It becomes less sticky as it cools. It is very easy to work with. You can make it stiffer with a little more flour if you prefer. Store it in a zip-lock bag in the refrigerator. You can lay creations out on cardboard to air dry for ornaments and gifts. Don't forget to poke a hole if you plan to hang them.
