The Crushinator!

We are constantly amazed at how capable our sons can be. Dylan is back at college wrapping up another semester on the Dean's List. Benjamin is working on his domestic skills at home. He is fast becoming my prep cook!

Ben's favorite thing to "help" with is unloading the dishwasher. In efforts to keep the items clean, I always sacrifice one or two items to his cause (usually a ladle or spatula) and then rush to empty the racks as fast as I can.

This time I handed him the garlic press. As I turned away I thought, "I'd better take that back before he pinches his fingers in it". However, I turned back around to find him expertly crushing his little freeze-dried yogurt snacks at the counter. He had no difficulty knowing what to do with it and how to open and close it effectively; and without harming his capable little pinkies. He had a great time rubbing the resultant snack powder all over the counter too.

White Rabbits

Just like waiting to see if the groundhog sees his shadow, every parent waits to see if their kid can handle a visit with the traditional holiday helpers; Santa & the Easter Bunny. Benjamin is officially in the "terrified by the Easter Bunny" catagory. I may never get him to go into Alberstons again without gripping my coat and anxiously looking around for that pooka. It was, then, very theraputic when we saw the baby bunnies living under the porch at Sam's Spade garden store. Ben was able to get close enough to pet one because Sam has been feeding them; trying to get "Alice" to eat from her hand.

Dylan & the Easter Bunny; Part III

Happy Easter everyone!

Dylan & the Easter Bunny; Part II

We checked. Lake Como is still there.

The Bitterroot River is beginning to swell. Dylan noted that there are beavers along the banks.

Dylan & the Easter Bunny; Part I

Oh, yes. There was a glorious Easter egg hunt in our sun-shiny back yard! Dylan was quite skillful in helping to hide the eggs (note; the pastel projectile at the top left of the photo). Ben was quite good at finding them.Ben was quite proud of himself, too.

Hippity Hoppity, Easter's on it's way!

"So let me get this right... you hide these from me and then point and laugh while I search in all the wrong places for them? Hmmm... I think I like Halloween better. I had to dress up like a monkey, but people just put the candy in my bucket for me."

Our local candy store has their Pied Piper decorations out to lure the children in. It works on Ben everytime we pass the store window.Ben and I found multiple uses for egg-dying cups. His favorite is to stack them and knock them down with his new car! GrandMum Cuddy made Ben these spiffy new jammies. Ben LOVES them! They are soft, beautifully made, and the Sesame Street fabric gets Ben wired. He began dancing in them when we tried them on and he drags them everywhere when they are taken off.Ben is enjoying all of the fun suprises and treats he has received. It looks like the Easter Bunny has as many helpers as Santa! He is ready for some sunshine!
But, he is enjoying the April showers!

Happy Birthday David!!!

When are you going to start looking older, handsome guy?!? David is going to have to get some white hairs and start aging one of these days. Maybe he is waiting until Ben's "terrible twos"?Dave was thankful to all for his shower of love and well-wishing sent from family and friends.
The kiddos each made their Dad a homemade birthday card.
There was sushi, wine and homemade Black Forest cake in his honor.

We saved some for you, Dylan! We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Daddy's Home!

Oh Boy! Daddy is home from his business trip to Belgium. Ben is AMPED!

Daddy is still getting used to the time zone, but happy to be back. Now, if we can talk Dylan into coming home for a visit, we'll be complete. And, he had better hurry or I'm going to eat all of the Belgian chocolate souvenirs. I know this picture is a little dark, but it was just too cute to leave out.

Looks like fun!

When Ben gets up in the morning, he looks like this. He has figured out how to undress himself. Zippers are no match for the Bouncing Baby Benjamin! Springtime, it would seem, inspires streaking. When I pull into the driveway with groceries, Ben looks like this. The sunshine warms the car and "poof" he is out like a light.
When there is someone in the next booth over, Ben looks like this. He is certain that everyone wants to play peek-a-boo; his infectious laughter turns most grown people into toddlers.

Oh, no you don't, little Mister!

Yes, Ben's latest trick is to try to hide things up his nose. His big brother will be so proud. I have to watch him every second when he has anything in hand that may fit there. In this video, you can see his sneaky, awareness waiting for mom to stop paying attention. I caught him putting rice up his nose. The next morning he filled the orifice with cottage cheese.

Dylan will also be quite impressed by Ben's groovy dance moves. He can shake it like a milkshake and, most of the time, he doesn't fall over any more.

Now, THIS is what I call "Spring"!

What a beautiful Spring day in the Bitterroot Valley! And on top of that, we hear that Dylan got an 100% on his Physics test and plans to visit later this month! Hooray!!!It has definitely been an "A+" day! Ben saw a bunny rabbit from his stroller when we went for a walk. It hopped along in front of us like we were all in a little Easter parade. Ben "helped" work in the yard some more today. Then he climbed our hilly terrain and ran laps around the house.

The cat snuck out to enjoy the sunshine with us too. She rolled around on the patio in the sunshine.I worked on weeding the flower beds and found this funny little buried treasure.

More independent every day; Ben demonstrated some new playground tricks.

Once he decided he could do it, he climbed and slid over and over and over again!
