Family Craft Night

So, I stumbled on this fun idea while having my morning coffee (It was shared on Facebook by "The Laurie Berkner Band" and here is the "how-to" page at "Therapy Fun Zone").

Dad cut and prepared the box. Mom used the "hot glue ray". Ben drew the maze and decided how to cut the straws.
Here, Ben, is waiting for the glue to solidify.

It works! We successfully made a Marble Maze toy! Yay, team! That puts a twist on our Family Game Nights, now doesn't it?!

The Green Fairy

I am convinced that Benjamin is an author. I plan to do all I can to capture his stories, through dictation, every chance I get. Here is the seed of a story he has been working on this morning.

There was this group of bad aliens and monsters who came to get the Green Fairy and her Monkey friend.

The green fairy turned invisible and got the dragonflies to fly around, to guard the bad Rock Man. They make a shield.

After the green fairy put that invisible shield on the bad Rock Man, she came to the safe circle. She has saved the day! The aliens and monsters decided to be good and they are guarding her. First they were bad guys then they turned into good guys.

Throwing Snowballs!

While talking about the changing seasons, Ben lamented that we never got to have a winter snowball fight.
We had to do something about that!
Careful what you wish for little man! Mom may not have very good aim, but she has unlimited snow because she knows where the paper recycle bin is!
Energizer Bunny Ben quickly learned to stock pile his snow balls while I was up for a drink of water.
Take that! And that! And that!

This boy may only be 5 years old, but he is quite athletic! Keeping up with him is quite a challenge!

This kid is pure joy and energy!

It seems that I could run, but could not hide.
Ben broke out his shield for a game of "Shield Back Ricochet".

We stopped many times to cool down, and decided that having a non-moving target was good too. Aiming for the tub sounded good, but prompted Ben to make more snowballs to "fill it up!". With all the extra snowballs, the game took off anew all over the house! Look out, David. When you come in the door tonight, you'd better duck!

What have I been up to? Oh, my. We have had a lot of crazy stuff going on at our house, but none of us have been committed to a padded cell yet. I haven't really felt like venting here, but I do owe everyone a long overdue update.
So in summation, when I am not breathing into this bag, I am dizzy with a long list of crazy art projects.
(Clarification: No, I have NOT taken up huffing glue. This picture is a reference to a common hyperventilation "cure" in which you breathe your own carbon dioxide by breathing in-and-out of a paper bag.)
My wee art student is creating some pretty exciting stuff this week, utilizing art materials from the recycle bin.
This "Speed Bus" is still being decorated, but it already takes passengers up and down the hallway. It is always fun to help Benjamin use that amazing imagination of his. He gets such a kick out of the smallest things. It is wonderful to see him get so excited about something as ordinary as an empty egg container.
But, honestly, these are the most exciting cartons in my house right now. I can hardly "contain" myself! You see, most of my art projects have been for clients who wish to remain confidential for now. I am hoping to add a few things to my JAB Graphic portfolio soon. However, the materials in these boxes are for my own, fine art, big ideas. Once I can clear my JAB Graphic schedule enough, then I will be bringing out the box cutter!
Last, but not least on our artistic agenda, is David's role as George in the Hamilton Players production of "The Drowsy Chaperone". The play opens this Friday, the 13th. It is a very funny musical, with an amazing cast and fantastic director. In addition to acting, David will be singing and tap dancing in this one! He has worked very hard on it. The show will run for three weekends, to include Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday matinees. Tickets are now available at the Hamilton Players "Box" Office or online (click here)!

Guess Who Is Engaged!?!?

Dylan & Sarah
are officially engaged!
My first born is about to become a husband! My head is still spinning a little. They set the date for August 16th, 2015. We plan to get more details, and celebrate their engagement with them, next Saturday!
